“War Room” Evokes a Powerful Message to Audiences

Faith-based film War Room, attempting to reach small Christian audiences, debuted at theaters on Aug 28, 2015. Impressively, the low-budget movie peaked at number two in the box-office on its release week, and has recently become the currenty top-grossing film, surpassing Straight Outta Compton. The Kendrick brothers, the makers of War Room, Courageous, and Fireproof, have continued to reveal their film-making talent as their movies continue to improve.

The original War Room story centers around a couple that had an estranging marriage, and the wife found the power to restore her family through prayer. The wife encountered a female widow that had a contagious passion to seek the Lord in what she called her favorite room of her house, calling it the war room.

“Immediately after this movie, I went home, ripped out everything in my closet and made my own war room,” Pearlman said, one of the anchors for Fox News.

This movie decodes a powerful message, revealing the fact that prayer causes God to move in our lives. Through the film, the wife’s prayers caused a change in the husband’s life. In the end, the family’s attitude and status began to change toward each other. They were filled with new faith in God.
At the end of the film, the widow approached her war room, and conducted a powerful prayer for the nations. She prayed that world will change and that everyone will make it their goal to bless others wherever they go. The final verse that portrayed was 2 Chronicles 7:14, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

While I was watching this movie in the theater, I couldn’t help but cry watching it. It marked a huge impact in my life and inspired me to create my own war room to seek the face of God.

This is what occurred in the film. I pray for the Kendrick Brothers greatly, that their films will continue shaping the lives of thousands around the world. Not only that, but I pray that the message of salvation will reach the non-believers, and help them reconcile their relationship with Jesus.
