Every year, people from all over the world anticipate to celebrate Halloween. To many, it is their favorite event of the year. It is a time of trick-o-treating, clubbing, dressing up, and pretending to be someone else. But what is the history of Halloween? Do people know what they are doing when they put on a costume from Party City? If we really knew, we wouldn’t celebrate it.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. —Hosea 4:6
The Origins of Halloween
Halloween began as an ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain. Living around Ireland, United Kingdom, and Northern France, Celtics celebrated New Year on Nov 1. For them, that month would signal the ending of an age and would bring back memories regarding their human loved ones. It was a time of grieving and was regarding as the celebration of human death. They believed that during the night of the 31st of October the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. In addition, they believed that ghosts and spirits of the dead returned to earth.
The Celtic priests, known as Druids, created rituals to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to these Celtic deities. During these celebrations, the people would wear costumes.
As immigration became a fad during the second half of the nineteenth century, the Celtics moved to America and brought their polluted Halloween traditions to this nation. A pope attempted to change the day to All Souls’ Day to commemorate the dead. Regardless, the influence of this event was spread throughout Pagan religions; they adopted the celebration of the lost souls with rituals, bonfires, and parties. As the names continued to change (from All Souls’ Day, to Samhain, etc.), the final name that flourished out of all became Halloween.
Witches and Warlocks Fast for Oct 31
The spiritual realm is real, and there are Satanists that fast for this day to occur. They pray to their false gods in order for this event to create a demonic atmosphere around the world. They desire for everyone to stir up an atmosphere of death, crimes, drinking, sex, violence, and rampage throughout the world. The bringing on of costumes of angels, devils, saints, and other creatures makes us participants of this celebration of the dead. It is the event where the most evil spirits operate over the earth at one time, becoming a hazardous environment for believers in Christ.
Numerous crimes occur on the eve of Halloween
There are many people with costumes that decide to commit tragedies on Halloween, simply because no one will be able to identify them. By participating in this, we may be putting our lives at risk. Police officers attempt approach the crowded events, but there is too much populations in there for them to control.
We are not from this world! Do not celebrate this evil event!
Jesus came here and he said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Either we worship the devil, or we worship God. The same way we worship God by lifting up our hands and praying, we can worship the devil by creating a costume and walking around with it.
While the spirit of this age continues to lurk within the secular communities, we must continue to resist the devil so that he can finally flee! In Jesus’ name, we carry the ultimate power and authority to say no to the traditions of this world! If we participate, it must be to save souls from the burning hell that awaits them! We must preach the gospel on this day like never before, and take people out of destruction!
