“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
—Romans 12:2

The battle to live, conquer, and prosper joyfully lives inside of our mind. We see it everyday in our frustrations, fears and cares. We worry about this life more than we enjoy it. The devil attacks us through our circumstances. The problem with this battle, and the reason why we must change our mind is because the choices that we make will come from there.

The devil will bring various thought patterns into our own head in order to reveal what is still alive in us. In other words, although the devil wants to expose those areas to make us fall, God wants to expose them so that we can watch out and flee from them. It is a spiritual battle! If we are alive in those areas, we must flee from them, or we must cancel those thought patterns!

How does the battlefield in our mind begin? I heard a message of Apostle Guillermo Maldonado on mental strongholds, and it gave me these great steps that I wanted to share with you. How does it begin, and what is the result of not being free from this pattern of thinking?

  • The Power of Suggestion.

The war with our mind is everyday. What is our mind occupied with for most of the day? It isn’t only when we are in victory; that should be the least of our worries. The devil is hungry and sneaky, waiting for our weakest point to throw himself to us with suggestions. He wants to ensnare us at our weakest point, and wants us to approve his suggestions.

  • We have a mindset.

If we don’t rebuke those thoughts, we will have an established thought pattern. Now our mind is fixed on that thought daily; it is all we think about. “I’m too old; I’m never going to get married.” “I’m frustrated; I need to get a new job.” “No matter how hard I try, I always sin, or I always fall back; I shouldn’t continue anymore.”

Your mindset determines where your life is going.

  • Mindsets and thought patterns establishes strongholds.

When we believe something and we refuse to let it go, it becomes a stronghold. It is the place in our mind where the devil operates. It is his “headquarters,” and from where the ideas of his kingdom are sent out. It begins with thoughts that are never rebuked or cast out.

I’ve seen it in people that when they have strongholds in their mind, their demeanor changes. Their attitude and their language is not the same as before. They think perverse thoughts, and the next step is that they look for someone else to feed that mindset. They find a person so that it can develop that evil thought. In reality, these people are going backward.

“A person with strongholds cannot perceive the spiritual dimension.”
Apostle Guillermo Maldonado

  • We have a reprobate mind.

At this stage, we have no life and no reality of Jesus. We are walking through the doors of our church, but the devil has control of our mind. Jesus doesn’t reside in us anymore because of wicked thoughts. We have a special friend to influence the negativity, and it detracts us from God’s presence. We’ve lost the fear of God.

  • We have apostasy.

This is the final stage. Even though we have seen, heard, and experienced Jesus, we decide to leave the faith. We decide to leave it all. This is the most dangerous place to be at, because we have witnessed God in all of his splendor and goodness. The last thing we should do is turn our shoulder the other way. When much is seen and heard, much is expected! God will hold us accountable for what we know and what we have experienced!

We don’t want to do the will of God because we’re afraid of leaving sin.

We must believe God for more! We can change our way of thinking! We can open new doors, and we can accelerate God’s will over our lives!

What are the benefits of changing the way that we think?

  • Spiritual sight and perception.
  • Knowing and experiencing the pleasing, perfect, and good will of God.
  • Sustained change and blessings.
  • We are transformed inside out.

You can change the way of thinking in your house! In your family, in your school, in your job, and in your future generations!
