“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God”
2 Corinthians 3:6
Last night, I taught a message to my house of peace members on how to enter into the rest of God. Throughout the week, I meditated on the fact that stress comes when we stop depending on God and we start depending on ourselves. This is the beginning of all of our worries, sorrows, and problems. This Bible verse couldn’t have said it any better, that our trust and our value is completely on God himself, and not in our own natural abilities. We don’t trust in our strengths at all, but we fully rely on his grace and his supernatural power.
As I meditated on this, I repented to God for trusting in my own abilities in certain areas in my life. It can be simple for us to walk this walk and think that we have it under control, but that is when we should be most careful. The Bible teaches us that no man is righteous; the devil is like a prey waiting and seeking on whom to devour. This is why we must constantly be walking in humility and honesty, and submission.
Tonight, I invite you to do the same. Stop trusting in your own abilities, in your talent, or in your skills and knowledge. Are you afraid that you don’t meet the qualifications for a job? Or to enter into a school? Or to get rid of debt? The only one we should be depending on is Jesus Christ, himself. God intervenes when we let go, and last night I made a decision to let go off every obstacle.
We are about to enter into December, the last month of the year. This is the perfect time to do a self-analysis of your heart, life, motives, and dreams. What goals did we accomplish? What didn’t we fulfill? Where did we go wrong? What must we fix in our lives? We must be ready for 2017 spiritually; our character must be on check. Our hearts must be on check. We must enter into the place of rest, and depend and rely completely on God, and only in Him. I challenge you to put your trust in him! God will show up and give you new strength!
