We are living in a very unique and distinct time. Christianity has exploded in popularity all over the world. There are mega-churches are all over the world, Christian conferences, and even Christian news and channels. You can find a church like you shop for your groceries. Whatever you like or need, there are churches that supply and provide those things. But with the rising of Christianity, there’s also an emergence of contrary or different beliefs that oppose the original Word of God. Unlike most Catholic churches, where every priest or pastor is preaching the same doctrine all throughout their services around the world, the Christian sector is very different. Every church and every preacher is preaching a different message. They use the Bible, but every preacher interprets it differently.
False preachers and teachers have risen from this movement.
It is very tragic to see cases like Jonestown, Waco, or Heaven’s Gate. So many cults and so many sectors are rising from different religions, Christianity included. There are even false Messiahs who have claimed to be the second coming of Jesus. And even though their teachings are false, they have influenced a generation with their charisma and belief in what they were saying. What is sad is that beautiful people have easily fallen into deception because of their lack of knowledge of the scriptures. This is why it’s so important to abide in the word of God.
High-profile Christians are filing for divorce.
I remember a time when Christians were role models of making a covenant before God to their husband or wife (till death do us apart). Nowadays, this isn’t the case, where we are seeing many cases of Christians filing for divorce, whether it was out of infidelity or other secretive marital problems. Christian actors, pastors, prophets, teachers, celebrities, authors, and even members are filing for divorce against each other. Rather than repairing the marriage, praying to God and seeking reconciliation, there is a generation that is being blinded by the spirit of this age. They are acting like the world, who just commits divorce and then marries someone else, breaking the purity of their covenant to God. Even preachers and pastors who have married four, five, six times with different women. That’s contrary to what the Bible says.
“For I hate divorce,” says the LORD, the God of Israel…”Malachi 2:16
So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”Matthew 19:6
Churches are accepting homosexuality and abortion.
If a man lies [intimately] with a male as if he were a woman, both men have committed a detestable (perverse, unnatural) act; they shall most certainly be put to death; their blood is on them.Leviticus 20:13 AMP
I ask myself… how is it possible that there are pastors accepting homosexuality into their churches? People being ordained as ministers and pastors that are homosexuals? Even organizations that have edited the Bible to have a queer or other perverted version. The Bible cannot and should not be rewritten! In the Old Testament, anyone who committed this sin was put to death! Someone may argue that this was merely a law, and that it is no longer part of the New Testament. Take a look at this scripture from 1 Corinthians, from the New Testament:
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate [by perversion], nor those who participate in homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers [whose words are used as weapons to abuse, insult, humiliate, intimidate, or slander], nor swindlers will inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God.1 Corinthians 6:9-10 AMP
For this reason God gave them over to degrading and vile passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural [a function contrary to nature], and in the same way also the men turned away from the natural function of the woman and were consumed with their desire toward one another, men with men committing shameful acts and in return receiving in their own bodies the inevitable and appropriate penalty for their wrongdoing.Romans 1:26-27 AMP
Sin remains sin, and it is unpleasing to God. This includes abortion. In Exodus and Deuteronomy, God reminds us that “we shall not murder.” While it doesn’t implicate that a woman has a right to abort her baby, it is scientifically proven that from the moment that life is detected in the womb, it is considered equal to life. There are laws that have been implicated that have politicized abortion, but God has said that we shall not murder. A baby has life from the moment a heartbeat is detected in the womb. These abortion laws being passed are merely justifications and licenses to murder innocent babies. It’s sad that there are preachers right now that support abortion; they support killing an unborn weeks before it is brought into the world. This is inhumane.
Preachers are preaching a different gospel from the gospel of the kingdom.
And He went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the good news (gospel) of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people [demonstrating and revealing that He was indeed the promised Messiah].Matthew 4:23 AMP
The best role model of teaching and preaching the right way, of course, is Jesus. He demonstrated the perfect example of what it is to have a service! He taught, he preached, and healed people. There are preachers right now that are only teaching but are not healing, and others healing but not teaching at all. And even to those that are teaching, are teaching things that are contrary to scripture. They are giving historical teachings, or motivational messages, but are not preaching and teaching about sin and repentance. They have a lot of unsaved people in their churches. I thank God for the ministries that are preaching the truth and are not afraid of offending people. Of course, there must be a balance; we need the love of God. But we cannot compromise murder, or homosexuality, or any other topic of the word of God.
If you are reading this, chances you know someone or a movement that falls under this category. We must stand firm with the truth! What does the Bible say? We must become a student of the word of God, and always be under an authority (someone who has credibility and wisdom of the scriptures), so that they can correct us when we fall into error.
Join me in being spiritually alert, and praying for our beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, that they may come to know the truth! That they will not be deceived, that they will come to know the true word, and be saved like the word teaches us!
